Laser Processing

Our passion is research and development of new laser processing technologies for electrical engeneering applications

The main emphasis of our research lies on the further evolution of laser processes  for high-efficiency and low-cost back-contact crystalline silicon solar cells.  We optimize our laser processes like laser-doping, laser-ablation and -structuring of thin films, as well as laser-welding of metal foils for contacting, in close collaboration with the research groups “Industrial Solar Cells” and “Semiconductor Technology” at ipv. Furthermore, we analyze laser-annealing processes for dopant-atom activation in semiconductor materials, as well as the laser-porosification of sputtered silicon layers for the fabrication of porous anodes in lithium ion batteries.
